  • We recommend doing at least one coat of shellac primer, and 2 coats of urethane alkyd enamel paint. If you’re going from a dark color to a very light color, we recommend 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint.   • Most of the time it takes us 2-3 days to paint a standard set of kitchen cabinets. We often recommend an oil-based paint or something similar for kitchen cabinets because of its durability and smooth application, making it ideal for cabinets that see a lot of use.
  • You can also get the best of both worlds using a urethane alkyd enamel paint. Urethane alkyd enamel is a hybrid between an oil and water-based paint, which makes for the ideal balance between durability and flexibility.
  • Our process usually consists of a combination of spraying and rolling. This has many advantages, for example when the face of the cabinet doors and drawers are rolled, it allows you to easily touch up the cabinets without having to whipt out a paint sprayer. This is due do the stipple being matched for touch ups because of the rolling process. With our combined technique you get the benefit of a paint sprayer, which can offer a smoother finish, and get into the crevices that are missed with a roller.
  • Even though the cabinets seem dry to the touch in a few hours, this does not mean they're fully cured. This process can take 48-72 hours. Due to this we recommend avoiding opening and closing the cabinets and drawers for 2-3 days.
